About Bin Better

A small practice with a large aperture. We design systems for companies that are serious about how their technology fits together.

Origin

How We Started

Bin Better, LLC was founded in Alpine, Utah with a straightforward conviction: most systems fail not because of bad technology choices but because of unresolved tension between architecture intent and operational reality. We saw the same patterns repeating across teams, tools, and budgets. Someone needed to focus on the connective tissue.

The firm started as a solo practice serving three local companies. Word spread not through marketing but through the durability of the work. Each project led to the next because the systems we designed stayed stable, adaptable, and comprehensible long after the engagement ended.

Today we serve clients across multiple industry verticals, from healthcare logistics to financial data platforms. But the operating model has not changed: small teams, deep engagements, written deliverables that double as operational manuals.

Principles

What We Believe

Every design decision is a trade-off. We do not pretend otherwise. Our work is guided by a short set of principles that survive scrutiny across projects:

  • Clarity over cleverness. The best solution is the one the next engineer can understand in five minutes. Elegance is a property of the solution, not of the individual making it.
  • Evidence over convention. Patterns exist because they work in context. We adopt patterns when the evidence fits, not when the industry says they are best practice.
  • Written over spoken. Every decision that matters is written down. Architecture decision records, runbooks, data dictionaries. If it is not documented, it did not happen.
  • Simplicity over sophistication. Distributed systems are complex enough without adding accidental complexity in the application layer. We fight to keep things simple and only add machinery when the problem demands it.
  • Durability over speed. Fast delivery that produces technical debt is not fast — it is borrowing from the future at high interest. We deliver at a pace that produces systems that last.
Methodology

How We Work

Every engagement follows a structured arc. There are no shortcuts, and the process is transparent from day one.

Phase 1: Context. We spend the first weeks learning your domain, your constraints, and your unspoken assumptions. This phase produces a context document that aligns everyone on the current reality.

Phase 2: Blueprint. Based on what we learn, we produce a system architecture blueprint. This is not a PowerPoint — it is a written document with diagrams, data flow models, interface contracts, and migration sequences. The blueprint is the deliverable.

Phase 3: Implementation. We work alongside your engineering team to build or transform the system. Our role shifts from designer to navigator. We pair, review, and ensure the blueprint survives contact with real code.

Phase 4: Handoff. The engagement ends with a comprehensive operations manual, runbooks, and a knowledge transfer session. The goal is that your team can operate the system without us.

Client Work

Who We Serve

Our clients span healthcare technology, financial services, logistics, real estate platforms, and enterprise SaaS. What they share is not an industry but a mindset: they care about how their systems fit together and are willing to invest in doing it right the first time.

We do not publish client names publicly. The work speaks for itself through the stability of the systems we design. References are available upon request during the evaluation phase of any engagement.
